Qualification
In the agreements concerning the PhD students and supervision of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Theology the PhD students and their supervisors undertake to comply with the principles of good scholarly practice.
However, in the day-to-day reality of research situations occur time and again, which, in this sense, are difficult to assess. In previous years, we offered in our course programme events on good scholarly practice, which were conducted by external trainers and which were aimed at life and natural science related foci. Sabine Heerwart has begun a training as a trainer in this field and will offer a short workshop on the topic „Gute wissenschaftliche Praxis – verantwortungsbewusstes Forschen während der Promotion“ on 13th November. The event will be explicitly aimed at contents of the humanities and will sensitise you not only in your role as a PhD student for your own academic work and research but likewise in your role as a (future) supervisor or teacher.
After our workshop „Grundlagen der Betriebswirtschaft für Geisteswissenschaftler/innen“ in the past year, we received much positive feedback on the contents, which seem unfamiliar for many PhD students in the humanities but which are crucial for their future career. Because of numerous suggestions for further events in the field of economy, we would like to call attention to the offer of the Lower Saxony-InnovationCampus (SNIC) in the field of “foundation/self-employment”, which exists in cooperation with the start-up support of the university. The events of SNIC are open to all PhD students and are addressed to individuals with no or little previous knowledge on business administration. An open part module of the Innovationsakademie (academia of innovation) is planned for the coming year, in which counselling services and offers of support are presented. In addition, a tax consultant and a lawyer are available to answer fiscal and statutory questions on the topic self-employment and foundation. We will inform you as soon as the precise date and venue is fixed.
